Soo, I didn't think this was going to work

..But apparently it did. Haha, I didn't think it would work because it wasn't the same type of shirt I saw in the tutorial. Therefore, I didn't take any pictures of the process {sorry!} but I took a before picture, so that's good!

This shirt just fit weird. It always had, I think I got it at JC Penny when I was in, like, 8th grade just for a long sleeved shirt; but the sleeves were too short {Kinda pointless..} So, I decided to try it out to see if I could actually get some use out of it, & I love it! So cute!

Thrift Store Haul

So, I have been going to a lot of thrift stores lately & I've been finding some really awesome stuff, in my opinion! I bought all of this at either Deseret Industries Thrift Store in Cedar City, UT or St. George, UT, or at Sniffany's in Pahrump, NV. I wanted to show you some of the cool things I got & let you know how much I bought them for.

                      Black, long sleeved blazer                                           White & gray cardigan
                      DI - $5                                                                         DI - $4
                       Mid-length brown striped tank dress                           Blue knee length dress
                       Sniffany's - $5                                                              Sniffany's - $13
                      Leather jacket {Express brand}                                                 Beige peacoat
                      Sniffany's - $8                                                                            Sniffany's - $4
                      Brown leather, button & zipper jacket                      Denim vest {bought as a jacket}
                      Sniffany's - $6                                                            Sniffany's - $5
                      Denim blue slouchy blazer                                                 White flowy blazer
                      Sniffany's - $6                                                                     Sniffany's - $4
                      Pleather leggings                                                                Polka dot maxi skirt
                      Sniffany's - $5                                                                    Sniffany's - $7
All but tan belt, second from left from DI for $2
Tan belt from Sniffany's for $1
Suede booties
Sniffany's - $3
Leather boots
DI - $8
Nude wedges
Sniffany's - $6
Snake skin point toe heels
Sniffany's - $4
Strappy black heels
DI - $6

So in the past couple months at thrift stores I have spent a whopping $110, which is the amount I would probably spend on like 2 or 3 of these products retail.. So, I think I got some pretty awesome deals! If you are "too proud" for thrift stores, I would reconsider, because you can really find some awesome stuff that is sometimes brand new, never used or hardly used for less than half the price. Just something to think about :)

No head

{Dress: Rue21, Blazer: Ever, Heels: Thrifted, Necklace: WalMart}

So, I don't have a head in any of these pictures..Oh well.

I really like mixing different kinds of pieces, like with this outfit I mixed the edgy, strappy heels & the sharp black blazer {even the necklace can be considered a bit more "dangerous"} with this super girly & frilly lace dress with a satin bow in the front. I think they even each other out really well & I love this outfit :) & those heels {Ahem, that I bought at a thrift store for $6!} are the most comfortable pair of heels I have ever worn.

Color trends I've been loving

This summer has been full of awesome colors that are really making a statement & I have a hunch that they just might roll over into the fall & winter seasons. These are some colors I am going to try to get more of into my wardrobe:

Well, there ya have it! Happy Friday!

What my teens have taught me {so far}..

So, there was a whole group of women that I saw on Story of my Life that all made a post about what they've learned in their twenties so far. I was inspired & I wanted to do my own. Since my birthday just passed & I turned 19, leaving just one short year left of my teenage life, I thought I would share what these years have taught me, because they have definitely taught me so much.

Be nice to everyone.
After being in high school for 4 years & in those 4 years being sent to the principal's office for "bullying" 3 times, you learn a little bit about how to treat people & how to present yourself. Now, I wouldn't consider myself or my friends from high school bullies, but we presented ourselves in a way that could be taken as intimidating. I just kind of can't believe that it has taken me this long to realize that no matter what, no matter who, no matter when, just be nice, be kind, be thoughtful & considerate. It will make you & whoever you're talking to feel better at that time & later.

Smile.
I'm still working on this one, I love to smile, but I guess when I walk around, even if I'm perfectly happy I have this "look" on my face. People tell me a lot that I look mad, so sometimes I have to stop & think about how my face is & try to soften it. Haha, but smile at strangers & people you pass, seriously, it makes things so much nicer.

No matter what you think, you will get over "him".
You know, "him". That guy you've had floating in the back of your mind for what seems like forever, after he broke your heart, you think there won't ever be anyone else. Maybe there's just one of "him" or maybe there are a few. But what I can guarantee you that no matter how much you think you won't get over it, you will.

Always, always, always say thank you.
I learned this once when I worked all day long slaving away for somebody {they'll remain unnamed} & doing everything in my power that I could to make them happy when they came home & they noticed, & I'm sure that they were grateful, but they didn't say thank you to me. It was okay, I guess, I mean I knew they were grateful & happy that I had helped them, but they didn't show it very well & didn't say it at all. It upset me a little bit & ever since then I have made sure to always say thank you. I feel like I say it too much sometimes, but I think it is way better to say it too much than too little.

Dress to impress.
I don't think it's a secret that I love clothes, fashion, & dressing up. But even if stuff like that is not important to you, it's vital that you dress to impress every day. I remember a friend told me once "dress every day like you're going to see your ex", I think this is so funny, but true! Especially because for most of us there is always a possibility of that happening! But really, I feel like it's important to dress nicely everyday. It helps people take you seriously with whatever you're doing.

You're much prettier & much smarter than you think.
Now, I hate when people say stuff like this to me, but it really is true. You are your own biggest critic & you should realize that when you're criticizing yourself about anything. Don't ever sell yourself short or think less of yourself for whatever reason.

Always try your hardest.
This one is kind of a given, & you've learned it from a young age, but I really have learned lately that I need to always try my hardest. Not just sometimes. Because in the "real" world, that I have just recently began to embark upon, trying hard only sometimes just won't cut it.

You're going to make mistakes, & it is okay that you make them, but you have to fix them.
Everyone has always said to me, ever since I was little, that it's okay to make mistakes, you're only human. Which is very true, & they tell you that you can learn from mistakes. Also true, but you have to fix the mistake. You can't just leave it & move on to the next thing. Whether fixing it is actually fixing the problem that was created or {if it's too late} apologizing sincerely to whomever the mistake effected, you've got to fix it. I hope this one makes sense.

More to come shortly...

Self Timer

{Button down: F21, Jeggings: Heavenly Couture, Sandals: American Eagle}

So, first of all: these pictures are terrible. I put the timer on in my living room & they just didn't turn out good at all {& that second picture is the blurriest thing I've ever seen!}, but I really wanted to do an outfit post today, so I thought "what the heck?" & pressed the timer button. Anywhooo, another funny thing about these pictures: I'm not wearing any jewelry! I have yet to unpack my jewelry & have been totally bling-less since Thursday. It's probably the biggest bummer of all time, but tonight I am doing some serious unpacking/organizing because I just can't live out of boxes anymore!

So about the outfit, I have actually worn this outfit before {I know, fashion no no} but I didn't do an outfit post about it, I just have some pictures in it {See here}. These are my first pair of jeggings & I was always sooo against them, I thought they were dumb & ugly. Now I think differently. Ha. I really like the denim color of the shirt & how it kind of switches the look around {as you would normally wear a black cotton shirt & denim jeans, see what I'm saying?}. It's super comfortable & casual, but is appropriate for plenty of different occasions.

Now, I did take one other picture that I edited a little bit & I can't decide if it's creepy or cool. You decide:

Summer Suits pt. 2

Anthropologie//
So, anybody that has ever shopped at Anthropologie can probably agree that it's a bit more pricey compared to other places you can get swim suits, but they have such beautiful & unique styles that I really just love. All of their suits remind me of the 50s, & I think they're really cute. The high wasted bikini is a trend I can see blossoming a lot lately. I feel like it's a style that either really skinny girls or more curvy girls can pull off pretty well. I am neither one of those body frames & I have no idea if I could ever pull it off, but who knows? I'll have to try one on sometime & letchya know. :)

Floral, high-wasted bikini - $68 top, $58 bottoms

Floral one piece - $375
I normally don't really like this kind of stuff, but I thought this one was SO pretty. :)

NastyGal//
I don't have much experience at Nastygal.com. I just recently discovered it, but so far I am lovinggg it! They have some really awesome, sexy & trendy suits available. Here are my favorites:

Crocket mono-kini - $138
I am totally obsessed with this one. I seriously think it is so pretty & perrrrfecctttt :)

Florella one-piece swim suit - $275

"Wild Things" bikini - $88

So, that's my post(s) about swim suits! I had a lot of fun searching the websites to find my favorite trends. I hope you all are having fun splashin' around this summer!

Summer Suits

So, before I say or do anything I want to very sincerely apologize for the serious neglect that this blog has experienced this past month. It's not even that I was too busy, I just didn't have a whole lot to say & I was stressed beyond belief. A super quick & non explanatory bit of information about life for me though: I am back living in Nevada with my parents. {Don't be worried or anything, I've figured some stuff out & this is the best decision for me right now} I am going to try to not let this whole lame "not blogging" thing ever happen again. Haha, so anyway, on to the real post!

Summer Suits!
So, summer is officially here with its heat, fruity drinks, but most of all: swimming!
I've been doing a bit of swimming lately {I would be doing more, but we don't have a pool anymore :( }, so I wanted to share some super cute swim suits, where to get them, how much they are, etc. These are some of my favorite trends of swim suits of the season!

WalMart//
Living in a small town like Pahrump, there is hardly anywhere to shop for swim suits, the biggest store we have here is WalMart, but I'm sure many will agree with me when I say that WalMart has developed a very cute array of clothing & now swim suits! I found some of my favorites this year at WalMart! Here are a few:
Ruffled top mono-kini - $20
I think this one might be my favorite, {that's why it's first!} it's bright yellow is perfect for summer {& will make you look tanner!} & I love the ruffles, mono-kinis are such a unique trend that I am absolutely loving!

Simple bikini - $6 each piece
{I absolutely love this color! It's called "grape jelly"!}

Sequin, striped bikini - $8 each piece
{You can't really see in the picture, but there are sequins on the orange stripes, SO cute!}

Mini leopard print tankini top - $15
{You could wear this with just some simple black bottoms & it would look adorable on anyone with any body shape!}

I love these suits from WalMart because they're so affordable without sacrificing style and quality. I actually just bought a tankini from WalMart for $12, I couldn't find a picture of it online {I might take & post a picture later} but I found the bottoms that go with it {I didn't get them, I just wear solid black bikini bottoms with it}, so it looks a lot like this:

It's a one shoulder strap like the leopard one only it seems to swoop across the body, it's really cute & comfortable & I got it for so cheap! WalMart should definitely not  be crossed off your list when shopping for a swim suit.

Delias.com//
I have gotten the magazine randomly sent to me for years, they have super cute stuff & I just recently viewed their swimwear for the first time & I'm obsessed! Their styles are so simple but so adorable! I was given an old swim suit from a friend & I saw that it was from Delia's & it is SO comfortable & really pretty. Here are some of my favorites from the website:

Polka dot, side-cinched tankini - $24.50 each piece
& it comes as a bikini, as most of their prints do!

Black & coral tribal twisted bandeau bikini - $24.50 each piece
Totally obsessed with this print & these colors. It's simple because of the black & white but the tribal print & just a hint of coral makes it pop! :)

This post is becoming longer than I thought, so I will do a part 2 either later today, or tomorrow. See ya!
